A Guide to Choosing Your Music

By this point you may have decided on what is going to be playing the music at your ceremony or reception, but there are still decisions to be made, and we think these include the most fun of the whole planning process!

First, we suggest that you decide upon a common theme to serve as a framework on which we can build the muscial background for your event. To illustrate this, we present below three "menues" of music for a fairly typical wedding ceremony, including the traditional, featuring popular classical pieces, jazzy, which features songs from what might be considered America's "classical" music, and popular, which will be sure to get attendees of all backgrounds humming along.

This is not to say that different styles cannot be intermingled - in fact, playing only from one musical genre is likely to get boring, and we would want to avoid that! To some extent, we look at it as similar to picking out one's wardrobe, a splash or two of color against a solid black or white outfit can be perfect, but simply grabbing random bits of clothing and putting them on without consideration is likely to end up creating a confusing mess.

Finally, keep in mind that we are looking at general approaches here. We understand that you likely will have favorite songs, often with particular significance, and those should certainly be worked into the playlist. Just be sure to let us know of these requests as early in the process as possible, so that we can be sure to accomodate them as beautifully as possible.
